I'm heading to Shanghai (along with Hong Kong and Tokyo) next week and look forward to staying at The Waterhouse. From the outside it looks like a run-down abandoned warehouse - no signage or any indications that a hotel might be inside. Very covert.

or neither?

(more of a rhetorical question)

It's just a little dirty, it's still good, it's still good!!

It's just a little slimy, it's still good, it's still good!!

I think... no, I know, that I'm in a bit of a rut. I work from home and most weeks, if I don't need to go anywhere, I wear the same thing. As in, the same thing each and every day. Same jeans. Same t-shirt. If it's cold, I might even wear socks. Don't worry, I do change my undergarments (and socks) each day! A conversation with J the other week kind of woke me up:

Let me set this up. At a trade show I was given a bright green Burton t-shirt. Hey, I have roots in snowboarding, and J even worked for Burton at one point, so I don't feel bad about wearing a t-shirt with a snowboard brand on it just for lounging around the house. Plus, I kind of enjoyed the thrill and foreign feeling of wearing colour.

So I wear the bright green Burton t-shirt.

Day 1:

J: You're wearing that?

Me: Yeah! Why not?

J: ok...

Day 2:

I wear the shirt again. J says nothing.

Day 3:

J: Wearing that t-shirt again huh?

Me: Yeah, it's still good (by that, I mean clean)

Day 4:

I wear the green t-shirt under a grey sweater to go out for dinner or something

J: Is that the green t-shirt I see?

Me: Yeah, you can't reaaaally see it under the sweater.

Day 5:

J: You are wearing that t-shirt again?! Let me smell that thing.

Then I get worried.

Me: Waaaaait a minute (as I keep my distance)

J: You have worn that thing every day this week!

Me: It's still good... (I smell it) oh.. it's not still good...

I finally take it off and throw it in the laundry bin.

This is what it's come to.
