BALENCIAGA
10 Avenue George V
I had been on the fence about buying a Balenciaga bag for a long time. I had wanted one for a long time, but after a while something ruined it for me, and I wasn't so sure anymore. But I figured it out- I really dislike the oversized hardware and the bright colours- that soured Balenciaga bags for me (excluding non-moto bags). The classic, regular hardware is where it's at, and this olive green suede? Heaven.

I finally channeled my money to one cause, something that I've needed for a while. A new handbag. I still love my Isabel Marant bag and use it all the time, but it has holes and needs to be sent away for repairs, and I have no backup bags. I'm a one-bag kind of person anyway. I couldn't be bothered switching it out for different outfits much, but I'm adjusting to the idea. It's nice to have my Marant bag as a backup for rainy weather (until I stop babying the new bag)
The stock photo above is colour-accurate. I fell in love with it online, and seeing it in person, I knew it had to be my new bag.

The sales associate was really nice, despite being bogged down by tourists buying bags like they're shopping in the bulk aisle. She brought out three different bags from the basement (it must smell great down there!) so I could choose the one I liked best. Because of the natural grain of the suede, different pieces of the bag can sometimes look like they're slightly different colours. The third one was perfect. I even got to check out these crazy shoes from Fall 2010- a true shoe sculpture.

How absolutely GORGEOUS! Love the colour! And you're so brave to wear suede, I'm incredibly chicken...but the texture is SO beautiful! Great addition to your wardrobe ;)
xx
Olive green is such a great color because it has a way of morphing to coordinate with browns, greys, and greens.
You are absolutely right, that bag is perfect. Truly a thing of beauty.
How beautiful is this bag! I am currently debating buying a Balenciaga. I just don't know if I can justify the price yet. Im loving the suede versions, its nice that it looks worn - it makes you just use it and not 'baby' it so much.
Don't think I could get away with a suede bag in rainy London though! Do post some modelling shots.
This is gorgeous! What a great purchase!!
Classic! Good pick
love that bag, great choice. i die for the color grey. found you via style odyssey, have a great weekend.
Every time I see those shoes, I'm frightened. ;)
But your new bag is absolutely gorgeous! The olive appears to be a subtle hue, a bit greyed down, so it's really versatile. I'm sure you'll get lots of use and enjoyment from it.
I noticed that the lovely sealaura found you through my site....sweet. :) she's one of my blog-friends.
i adore all things green. this is wonderful and i usually hate the balenciaga bags. congrats on your new addition. :)
classic purchase! the color is really just so beautiful.
Very pretty bag! I love suede, and actually I love most Balenciaga bags in mute colors with regular hardware.. classic.
My IM bag has developed teeny holes and worn patches too - do you mind if I ask where you're sending yours to be repaired? I thought about trying my cobbler, but I'm scared he'll mess it up...
those heels are awesome.
I've been over balenciaga bags for a while (even my own giant brief makes me cringe sometimes) but when I did a quadruple take when I saw this same suede one in Vegas. I oogled it until I was on the brink of being kicked out by the security guard.
I'm not much of a bag changer either.
OMG. I need a new job.
so beautiful! i totally know what you mean about babying it.. i've stopped babying my balenciaga haha it looks awful know. all the tassels are splitted!
This bag is so much more beautiful in suede than it is in normal leather. I've suddenly in the last 6 months become drawn to suede more and more frequently as my leather finish of choice. You have excellent taste!
wow... I never cared about these Balenciaga bags, but have to say that yours is amazing. I wish I could afford one. I love it.
Olivia- I found a place in New York that repairs high-end handbags, but now I can't find the website! I will do a short post on it when I find it. I tried a repair place here before and the leather they used was horrible and didn't even match!
