chelsea boot + fall

Balenciaga Chelsea Boots

Remember how I fell in love with those Alexander Wang boots back in June? Well.... sorry, I found a much better pair! Enter the Balenciaga Arena chelsea boots. The more I looked at those AW boots, the more the cut-out and metal plate on the heel kind of bugged me. I want something a bit more timeless. These Balenciaga's are available online at Browns. Now comes the difficult part... figuring out a way to afford them (I don't really need the second kidney, right?) or finding something similar that I can afford! I've looked at Frye chelsea boots but they just don't look "special" you know? The search continues...

Speaking of purchases, I'm planning for fall! Unlike spring and summer when I sit down in a bout of depression and grimace, trying to piece together outfits that can weather temperatures above 15 degrees celsius, planning fall purchases is something I relish.

In addition to my dream flat boots, some other things I'm after for this fall...

- a navy blue and grey v-neck sweater. Preferably cashmere and slightly oversized but not sloppy. These are basics/classics so I think they should be good quality.

- other various sweaters (I need sweaters!) There are some I want to check out from Acne, and I'm sure I'll find some I like at Zara or Topshop.

(Ann Demeulemeester- I love this sweater but it's never going to happen!)

- grey and/or beige (tan/light grey/something light) pleated tapered pants

- black cape coat

(Ann Demeulemeester)

- camel overcoat (and if it starts raining money, a grey one too!)

Ann Demeulemeester coat
(Ann Demeulemeester- LOVE this coat!)

mango coat
(Mango. I almost bought a coat like this last year at Zara)

- black fur coat of some kind. Either vintage or faux fur. I'm looking for something with a mix of different lengths, which I think will be impossible to find!

fur alta mira
(via Alta Mira)

doo ri f10
(Doo Ri)

- simple wool skirts (1 mini and 1 knee-length) I like this mini from Joseph.

Joseph skirt
(Joseph)

- blouses (it seems like I never have tops) These will probably come from Zara - I always find tops I like there.

- leather leggings. It feels like I've been looking for affordable leather or suede leggings for years! I tried on a pair in COS when we were in Antwerp and I'm thinking I should have just bought the damn things! Haider Ackermann are my dream leather leggings- they fit so amazingly!

- something red! Either a jacket or a skirt... worn with nude/tan.

mango jacket
(Mango)

- something burgandy (Vanessa Bruno dress?)

vanessa bruno dress

- blue/black combo plaid shirt. My plaid shirt is on it's last legs and it makes me feel frumpy when I wear it. Time for a new one.

- light grey dress or skirt to go with a Rick Owens jacket I have yet to unveil. I am still dreaming of the Rick Owens ice queen head-to-toe light grey look.

Rick Owens F09

- black velveteen or thin-wale corduroy jeans. I desperately need an alternative to denim.

Velvet jeans Notify

Accessories:

- scarves! Navy, olive green, ribbed grey. I really want a Faliero Sarti scarf but I don't think I'll be able to afford one this fall.

- a leopard print belt. Ideally a vintage one that I find at a thrift store within 5 minutes of arriving (it's the best when you can actually find exactly what you want!) or else from a department store. Plain gold buckle preferably.

- suede ankle boots in grey. I still love the classic Isabel Marant boots, and now that there are so many "inspired by" versions, I don't think these will be difficult to find. Ideally I would love a pair by Marant herself, but... le budget...

(Isabel Marant boots via Heart in a Cage)

- No6 shearling ankle boots... I'm on the fence about these. They're cute and warm, but also trendy... so I don't know... I think it will either be the suede ankle boots or these. I guess I don't really need both.. "technically"...

No6 Shearling Clog boots

- black wide brimmed felt hat. I think I've found the perfect one after 2 years of looking!

Things I want but are definitely not going to happen due to "le budget":

- over the knee LD Tuttle boots

- new bag. I hate that I need a new bag! I despise the idea of buying a cheaply made bag just because I need one and can't afford one I actually love. I don't know what to do about this situation!

Wow, my list sounds so long! I'm trying to limit my purchases. I won't get everything on this list of course, but it's fun to at least make one.

Great post! I love your list! Quite a fee items are on my list, too. I also have the same problem with bags, the ones I actually like, are ridiculously expensive.
I need to get more wear out of my Marant boots. I really need to bring them to the cobbler because they aren't very comfortable. I think it's because of the slippery sole...

I love reading other peoples' lists! I killed a few birds with one stone by getting the Isabel Marant red, thin-whale cords. Had them shortened the way she is showing them. Bought a couple of JCrew cashmere turtlenecks in camel and navy. And the big, grey Reed Krakoff sweater from Luisaviaroma. Done. Though I'd love to find some brown boots. Lust for the brown laceup Ann D's on the Brown's site, but it's not going to happen.

Those Balenciaga boots are pretty cool. But still I like the Wang's. I think they can become a future classic. The thing about A Wang's stuff, when they come out they get so overexposed. Think of Tom Ford era Gucci, people are searching for that stuff now, but at the time they were "over" before they hit the stores.

That Ann D sweater and cape are amazing.

Re: the fur coat, I believe Elizabeth and James brought back this blazer they had with fur at the bottom, kind of similar to the Doo.Ri look. I remeber seeing it @ Saks a few wks ago.

An unseen RO jacket??!! Girl you're holding out!! Too bad you got rid of those incredible RO boots, but sometimes practically rules out.

At least some of the things like the sweaters, scarves, belt, dresses/skirts, and plaid shirt are things you can buy on the lesser end of the $pectrum.

killer stuff. i love lists (dream lists, whatever) and love this post! really great line-up. my list grows rather than shrinks, ha!

Fantastic stuff!

Which website did you see that grey Ann D sweater on? I haven't seen that one....! I was admiring the cape coat the other day - so gorgeous!

heart in a cage- thanks! I can't believe I didn't have your blog on my list (on my blog at least, I have you on my rss) so I added you :) That's too bad your Isabel boots aren't comfy. Try getting the sole reinforced. I do that to most of my shoes just so the sole is protected. It will definitely give you a little bit of cushioning.

theroxborough- me too! I'm a big list maker and thought I'd share. I like JCrew's stuff online but every time I get to a store (when I'm visiting the USA) I can never find anything I want!

H- Yeah, maybe you're right. I think I would just feel better buying something "un-hyped" or at least something I perceive as being un-hyped. Don't get me wrong, I would still wear the Wang boots, I just think the Balenciaga's are something I would want to wear much longer- I think their lifespan would be longer.
Yep, I'm definitely shopping on a really strict budget this fall! I don't have the disposable income I once did. I can't wait to visit Zara- I usually have good luck there.

styleodyssey- thanks! Ahh my list always grows and changes- this isn't even my "master wish list" of handbags/clothing/shoes! That one is too embarrassing to post!

DJ- that pic is from H Lorenzo. LVR has (or had, I'm not sure if they still do or not) it in black, but the marle grey is so much better!

Ah, this is the best list !
The Balenciaga's definitely beat the Wang's BY FAR.
I just found a similar vintage pair that were free free free so I'm stoked.
Of course I love the AD coats and yeah leather/suede leggings are the best things on earth. You'll find yours soon and make them look insanely incredible.
Offer still open for the Marant bag if you wanna grab some of this other stuff!!!!! Ha!

I am SO with you in the sweater department, as well as leather pants. ALL THAT I WANT right now is a HUGE sweater, preferably lightweight and wide-knit or semisheer. As far as leather pants, I ordered my second pair from Audrey Cantwell (http://blackmarketbaby.etsy.com) because I had some last year but the proportions were a little bit off, so I gave her my measurements and I will be getting them this week. Also, as weird as it sounds, Victoria's Secret has some leather leggings for $200, but I cant vouch for the quality :)

let us know what you end up with on the leather leggings item. i wanted some last year, but never found the perfect ones (fit/length/leather-knit ratio/price).

lovely list!

im with you on the boots. why does everything have to be so expensive?? after realizing that all i have is jeans and tees in my closet, lately all I buy is blouses now. oddly they all end up being the same variation but in different colors.

I love your choices. For a fabulous grey v-neck check out margiela's on totokaelo. i am lusting over that, but with a u-neck. both have an amazing back!

love the marant boots and the no.6 books. i have the latter and I swear to you that you will not regret them (esp. living in vancouver!) I lived in van for two years and wish I had them there to wear through the constant rain and slush. They are super comfortable and go with absolutely everything. Hopefully no. 6 isn't that well known over there!

i wanna see it. :)
also, LOL at your 'white as fuck' foundation.
still trying to sort my own skin out. damn these pores.

What about Gravity Pope? They seem to, along with Cratures of Comofrt, have a menswear sensibility that goes with your taste.

And honestly, the Ann D. cape coat would be easy to find in a vintage version on eBay. That's such classic 60s styling.

Jade- I know! So many I want this season, but none will end up in my closet :(

Jen- Free is best! I don't think you'd want my Isabel bag anyway- I need to get it repaired, there are holes in the corners now!

Zana- thanks for the leggings tip. I was going to order some from Audrey as well, but I really want them to be leather all around and preferably stretch leather. The quest continues!

Yuko- will do! I'm hoping I find some this fall.

Don'tForgetTheY- Sigh. I know. Everything I like is always so expensive. I think I'm going to get my sewing machine out and maybe sew myself a coat. I love silk blouses at the moment, and if I could I would buy multiples of ones with large front pockets!

melissa- thanks! I really want to find a pair of the shearling version to try on in person to make my decision.

pennerad- cool, I will check yours out! I have a problem with Rick Owens jackets. When I find them at ridiculous discounts, I buy in bulk.. I have 3 different ones now.. I feel sheepish!

madeline- yeah I haven't checked gravity pope out. Usually I can't find anything that's "just right" there. I'll check out those links though, thanks for thinking of me! Yeah, I didn't post a picture of the Ann D cape meaning that I was going to buy it! More for inspiration. There are capes like that at ASOS and Topshop right now.
