shop visit: mona moore

IMG_3254

Mona Moore has long been one of the shining beacons in Canadian online stores that actually carry brands I am interested in. Their storefront did not disappoint, designed like a long pink gauntlet of footwear from the likes of my favourite Belgians Ann, Dries, Haider, along with selections from Rick Owens, Marni, Lanvin, Pierre Hardy, Marsèll, Rodarte and leather goods from ma+ and Balenciaga.

They also carry a brand I had never heard of, but of which I should have: A Moment In... It is a group of nine multi-disciplinary designers under the direction of Anne Chapelle, who also directs Ann Demeulemeester and Haider Ackermann.

"No egos, no designer names, just products"

I really like these low-heeled oxfords and how the laces wrap around and around. A Moment In... also does amazing knitwear.

totally agree, monamoore was (and still is) one of the only places that has an inventory that I like the majority of. so glad they have a venice beach location now too.

cindy- thanks! yes, the Rodarte's are glass box worthy

divinitus- true, the majority of my shopping is online these days, but nothing beats a well-done b&m store in my opinion, because a certain mood can be created that heightens the shopping experience, or in the case of a designer's flagship creates a "world". Try to leave Ann Demeulemeester, Rick Owens or a multi-brand store like Lift Tokyo without buying something, or at least really really really wanting to buy something!

Last time I went the staff was so nice and they always play awesome music in the background! I'm from Montreal. The decor is also simple yet stunning, a mix of modernism and baroque...

Oh, and I'm adding you to my links. :)

nothing will replace the exhibit experience, true, but that would work if had a chance to be in that store on a daily basics... not once every decade or... never... :/
