project completed

i've been thinking about those margiela jeans every since that jak+jil photo surfaced. i didn't want to make them as extreme as the photo- it looks like they're shredded on front and back. i just shredded mine on the front. i'm pretty happy with how they turned out, despite getting my nostrils full of black fluff from sanding them with sandpaper.

Jeans Project

i'm wearing them with leggings underneath.

Jeans Project

also, i guess this is the debut of my studded louboutins. i bought them in the summer at a really good price on ebay and i've been saving them to wear in the fall. i'm going to wear them tonight to dinner. they make me smile.

Great job with the jeans! And I love your Ariella's! Am so jealous! I'd wear them with everything if I got my hands on them...did they run small?

Oh my God, you got those boots. I tried them and they totally didn't fit me, I was so sad. I like that you're wearing leggings under the jeans, I think it looks better than bare skin. Just more texture-y, rather than naked.

I agree with Wendy, the leggins under the jeans makes this look so much more wearable. Well done!

OH MY GOD, You look DIVINE... HOW did you make the jens?? Please post a 'how to'.. that is seriously amazing and I love it with the studded Loubs.. I love them because they look great, but I find mine quite hard to wear, I have not found the right look for me and them yet..but you look SO great!!!

brigadeiro- thanks. i thought the ariellas ran small (a few other loubs i tried to compare did) so i got an 8.5 instead of an 8, but they ended up being too big, so i have an insole in. so i'd say they run true to size.

lisa- thanks!

wendyb- yeah, i tried them with bare legs first and it was a bit much.

-h: thanks! i love them too :)

shay: thanks! I agree.

anijnas: it was really easy. i used an exacto blade (or scissors) and sandpaper. put a magazine in the leg so you don't cut through, cut a horizontal line, and use sandpaper back and forth vigorously to fray the edges. i also cut some holes bigger (so removed parts of the fabric) then i threw them in the washing machine and dryer to make them fray more.

tsfc- ok, maybe i'll post a how-to. i thought the loubs would look "too much" with the frayed jeans, but after seeing the photo i don't think they looked too bad. i've only worn mine with jeans so far. i'd like to experiment with skirts as well. i really like the way you wore yours with longer skirts.

Those jeans are brilliant. I want something similar but i get the feeling that the jean material is pretty important. Those shoes are amazing, i can't believe i didn't know you had them.

BTW that shop below looks incredible as does that sleek house from the previous previous post. I so want my own house!!!

ooooo wow! you did a superb job! the leggings inside is genius.

fp: yes, the jeans must be of a certain thickness (not too thin) so that they fray properly.
