valenkids

it almost snowed last night in the city, so the snow line on the mountains is really low now. it got me thinking of walking through the snow in these russian felted boots. valenkids make traditional russian boots made seamless from felted sheep's wool. You can buy them with rubber shoes that the felt boots slip into, or with an attached rubber sole. I know some might think these are ugly (like my boyfriend) but i think they are neat, and make me wish i was in snowy scandinavia.

i have some felted slippers from Finland that look a lot like those (but lower) and lots of people think they're ugly too, but i love them! but mostly i'm just glad it's not that cold in Vancouver, so i don't have to worry about finding nice winter boots...

Nothing grabs my heart more than felted wool. I saw a girl in Winnipeg with these but she was in the middle of breakfast so I thought it was inappropriate to ask her where they were from. :P Thanks for sharing!

I live in San Diego, CA and I have a pair of these and I wear them all time. You don't have to be in the snow, you just have to hate having cold feet.
